IFSI Water-Tender Operations

Riverton Fire and EMS held an IFSI Water-Tender Operations course with participating agencies of Chatham, Mechanicsburg, Riverton, and Sherman. This course was a two day, classroom and practical scenarios, course teaching the fundamentals of Water-Tender Operations. Photos are below:

Riverton Fire and EMS members, as well as area firefighters, attended a two day RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) training featuring IFSI Instructor Lloyd Gayle. Comprised of two parts, classroom and practical scenarios, members learned the basics of RIT that included dragging, hoisting, and extricating downed firefighters from a structure. During the March 2005 tornado outbreak communications were severely hampered with the exception of text messaging. This dire situation couple with the concern of the amplitude of the tornado siren warning system Springfield faced the Township of Clearlake decide to take action to supplement the current warning systems (T.V., Radio, and Warning Sirens) currently in place. This system is called eLert that currently the Village of Chatham employs for community awareness. This system will allow the residence of Clearlake Township and those related to the township residence to access a free service to alert the public via text messaging, e-mail, and computer desktop alerting of different emergency and non-emergency situations including severe weather outbreak, boil orders, and road closures.
